record conversations

what happened

again did not have the always-on recording — was gonna use Granola but didn't. didn't even have voice memo for a lot of it. met interesting people, had great conversations, forgot half of what was said by the next day.

why it's a gotcha

your memory is worse than you think, especially at events where you're meeting 10-20 people in a few hours. names, ideas, advice, introductions — it all blurs together. without a record, the event's value decays within days.

the fix

use voice recording at events for self-reflection and remembering who you met. even just opening Voice Memos on your phone during conversations (with consent where needed) gives you something to review later. take quick notes between conversations — even just a name and one thing they said. pair this with getting the contact on the spot, and the recording will help you write a much better follow-up that references specifics.
